MONROE, La. -- The ULM tennis team (1-1) dropped its match to Stephen F. Austin (2-0) by a score of 4-3 on Saturday (Jan. 27) at Heard Stadium in Monroe, La.
The Lumberjacks narrowly won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles.
Tamara Bachmann and
Angela Del Campo Suarez forced a tiebreak at No. 1 doubles and fell 7-2.
Alice Klinteby and
Giovanna Pereira cruised to a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
Mariam Hatem and
Raquel Alvaro went the distance at No. 3 doubles, but dropped the tiebreaker, 7-2.
In singles play, Klinteby picked up her first win of the season in three sets, edging SFA's Mamontova Ksenia 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
Mariam Hatem dropped No. 2 singles 4-6, 1-6 while Del Campo Suarez went to a tiebreaker each set versus her opponent and fell in three sets at No. 3 singles. ULM picked up wins at No. 4 and 5 singles when Pereira coasted to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 and Bachmann defeated Avery Kinsey 10-7 in a super tiebreaker at No. 5 singles. The Lumberjacks recorded a win at No. 6 singles and Alvaro fell 1-6, 4-6 in her match.
The ULM tennis team will return to Heard Stadium on Feb. 11 when McNeese visits Monroe.
