• The ULM women's basketball team, winners of five-straight Sun Belt Conference games, continues its homestand on Saturday (Jan. 27) at noon when the Warhawks battle Coastal Carolina inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe.
• The upstart ULM women's basketball team has recorded 14 wins so far this season, the most in program history since the 2010-11 season. The program won a total of 14 games in the previous three seasons. ULM's current five-game conference winning streak is the longest in ULM history in 18 years. With a win on Saturday, the Warhawks will hold the longest conference winning streak since the 2004-05 team, who won 11-straight conference games to conclude the regular season.
• Last time out, ULM bested Arkansas State in Fant-Ewing Coliseum on Thursday night, with a 84-76 victory. Five Warhawks reached double figures, led by reigning SBC Player of the Week, Nunu Bradford with 23 points.
Sania Wells registered 17 points and tracked down six boards and a steal.
Jakayla Johnson added a trio of 3-pointers and contributed 15 points, six boards and three assists.
Katlyn Manuel delivered 15 points, six rebounds and a pair of blocks.
Lauren Gross rounded out the double-figure scorers with 14 points on four 3-pointers.
Kyjai Miles pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and added a trio of assists and one block. The Warhawks sank 13 shots from beyond the arc and shot 51.6% from the field. ULM secured one more rebound than A-State and outscored the Red Wolves 14-1 in fastbreak points. ULM held the lead for 38:22 of game time.
• The Warhawks entered the Women's Mid Major Top 25 for the first time this season on Tuesday (Jan. 23). ULM was ranked No. 23 in the poll. James Madison (14) also appeared in the latest poll representing the SBC.
SATURDAY'S GAME BASICS
ULM and Coastal Carolina will meet for the seventh time in history Saturday afternoon at Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe. The all-time series is tied, 3-3, with ULM last defeating the Chanticleers in January 2023 in Conway.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Chris Harris (play-by-play) and Mike Vining (analyst) with the call. The game also will air on KMLB 105.7 FM/540 AM and the TuneIn app on the Warhawk Radio Network from Learfield with Ben Milam on the play-by-play.
PREVIEWING COASTAL CAROLINA
After a 1-1 start to Sun Belt Conference play, Coastal Carolina has dropped its last six conference matchups.The Chanticleers dropped a game at the Ragin' Cajuns on Thursday evening in a 67-51 decision.
Coastal Carolina succeeds at getting to the free throw line and averages 23.90 free throws/game, which is the seventh-highest rate in the nation. The Chanticleers rank in the top 25 nationally in offensive rebounds per game and average 15.2 boards per game on the offensive glass.
Leading Coastal Carolina in scoring is 2022-23 All-Sun Belt Third Team honoree Deaja Richardson. Richardson averages 14.9 points per game and has totaled 33 steals and 31 assists. Makaila Cange is the team's leading rebounder and averages 8.0 rebounds per game while 6'4" true freshman center Riley Stack ranks second in the conference in blocks with 33.
The Chanticleers are led by second-year head coach Kevin Pederson. Pederson spent 21 seasons coaching at the Division II level and accumulated a 356-160 record at Lander and an 88-31 mark at Anderson (S.C.) before making the move to Conway. In all, he reached the NCAA Division II Tournament 15 times and won over 400 games at a pair of DII schools in South Carolina.
