JONESBORO, Ar – The ULM volleyball team lost game two 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-18) against Arkansas State on Saturday.
In the first set, it was all Red Wolves (15-3 overall, 5-1 Sun Belt). With a 13-7 score, they scored nine straight points to take firm control of the set. An error by the Warhawks (4-14 overall, 0-6 Sun Belt) and a kill gave the Red Wolves to early set.
In set two, ULM put up more of a fight. Trailing 13-10, it went on a 5-1 run to take a slim lead at the media timeout.
Arkansas State responded to this run with a run of their own, scoring nine consecutive points. Two more kills by the Red Wolves put the Warhawks on the brink of a weekend sweep.
With the set score tied at 11-11 in set three, the Warhawks produced a 5-1 run to take a four-point lead. They only scored two points for the rest of the set with Arkansas State taking the set with scoring runs of 6-0 and 7-1.
Ariana Brown led the team in kills with 8, and
Cameron Rogers had a team-leading 15 digs.
Morgan Howard tallied 21 assists and 13 digs in the match.
The Warhawks, for the first time in 2024, will return to Fant-Ewing Coliseum for a home series with Marshall. Match one serves on Friday, October 18 at 6 p.m.
