MOBILE, Al – The ULM volleyball team dropped game two of the weekend series 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-18) vs. South Alabama on Saturday.
The Warhawks (4-12 overall, 0-4 conference) started hot in the first set with a 6-2 score. The Jaguars (6-8 overall, 2-2 conference) responded with a 5-0 scoring run to take the lead. Another 7-0 run gave them firm control of the set.
ULM came back with a 6-2 run late to bring the score within 1 at 21-20. The two teams were deadlocked at 23-23 before two USA points put the Warhawks behind 1-0.
Already up 7-4 in set two, South Alabama scored nine consecutive points to go up 16-4. It rode the momentum throughout the set and ended with a 12-point set win.
With the score at 6-5 in the third set, the Jaguars scored five points in a row to take a commanding 11-5 lead. Down 20-11, ULM used a 6-1 run to come within 4 points of the deficit. Powered by two kills, USA took the set and the match and secured the sweep.
Taly Cloyd led the team in kills with eight.
Morgan Howard had 20 assists, and
Camryn Kimes produced 9 digs.
The Warhawks begin part two of their early Sun Belt Conference road trip when they travel to Jonesboro, Arkansas for a weekend series with Arkansas State. Game one takes place on Friday, October 11 at 6 p.m.
