ATLANTA, Ga. – The ULM volleyball team lost the regular season finale to Georgia State 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-19) on Friday night.
The first set started well for the Panthers (16-12 overall, 7-9 Sun Belt), as they produced a 10-6 lead. The Warhawks (4-24 overall, 0-16 Sun Belt) responded with a 7-2 scoring run to take a one-point lead. ULM only put up three total points for the rest of the set, as GSU dominated the rest of the way with a 13-3 finish.
In set two, it was the Warhawks with a positive start with a 7-3 run. The Panthers scored ten of the next 11 points to establish control of the set. With the help of an 8-1 run, GSU never lost control, and pushed the Warhawks to the brink with a 2-0 match lead.
With a 10-5 deficit in set three, the Warhawks, with a 4-1 run, brought the score within two. Georgia State, with runs of 5-1 and 5-0, never lost control. Despite a 5-1 late in the set from ULM, it was too much to overcome, and GSU secured the sweep.
Taly Cloyd led ULM with seven kills on the night.
Morgan Howard produced 19 assists, and
Cameron Rogers tallied 12 digs.
