Warhawks Drop Road Game to Tulane 80-64

The Warhawks were held to 8-of-33 shooting in the first half and 2-of-13 from beyond the arc.

NEW ORLEANS -- The ULM men's basketball team (1-2) fell to Tulane (2-0) 80-64 on Friday (Nov. 8) night at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans.

Renars Sondors and Coltie Young both finished with 17 points for the Warhawks to lead ULM, making a combined nine 3-pointers. Sondors drained four shots from beyond the arc and pulled down seven rebounds and passed four assists.Young cashed in a team-high five triples and five assists. Devon Hancock finished in double figures for the first time this season with a 13-point performance and contributed four rebounds, four assists and a trio of steals.

AD Diedhiou grabbed nine rebounds to lead ULM while P.D. McCraney secured eight. Jerry Ngopot and Jacob Wilson both blocked a shot while Jalen Bolden tallied a pair of steals.

Tulane's Rowan Brumbaugh paved the way for the Green Wave in the scoring category with 22 points and sank six 3-point field goals. Kaleb Banks produced a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Tyler Ringgold and Gregg Glenn III both reached double figures with 10 points each.

ULM outrebounded Tulane on the glass 47-41, and ULM tracked down 17 offensive rebounds. The Green Wave outscored the Warhawks 36-16 in the paint and Tulane scored nine more second-chance points.

The Green Wave jumped out to a fast start after Tulane scored the game's first seven points and led 13-1 after five minutes of play. Tulane continued its strong start through the first 10 minutes. ULM missed its first 15 field goal attempts of the game. Young hit the Warhawks' first shot from the floor off a pass from Sondors to make it 22-5 Tulane with just over 10 minutes left in the opening half.

Tulane led by as many as 22 points in the first half. The Warhawks cut Tulane's lead to 11 points with a 13-2 run that included a pair of 3-pointers by Sondors. A Bolden steal-and-score in the final minute of the first half reduced the home team's lead to 13 points with 40 seconds remaining. Banks poured in one more bucket before the end of the first half, and the Green Wave led 42-27 at the break.

Out of the locker room, Tulane added to its lead and seized control of its largest lead of the night at 60-29 with 15:05 remaining after Ringgold scored a fastbreak layup. ULM rallied and scored 14 unanswered points with a pair of 3-pointers by Young, one each by Hancock and Sondors and a layup by Hancock to whittle the home team's advantage to 17 with 12:13 to go. ULM could not close the gap to smaller than 16 points down the stretch.

The Warhawks will complete a three-game road trip on Tuesday (Nov. 12) night at Rice. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. from Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston.
