MONROE, La. -- The ULM women's basketball team (17-11, 9-7 Sun Belt) dropped its home finale to SBC-leading Marshall (21-6, 15-1) on Saturday (Feb. 24) afternoon inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The Warhawks opened up a 32-18 lead after one quarter of play and led by as many as 17 in the second quarter. The Thundering Herd raced back and led by 18 early in the fourth quarter. ULM trimmed Marshall's lead to five points in the final minute, but Marshall extended its winning streak to five games with a 99-90 win.

Daisha Bradford posted a game-high 29 points in her last game at Fant-Ewing Coliseum and shot 10-for-18 from the field. Bradford also grabbed five steals and four rebounds. Jakayla Johnson netted 22 points and was one board away from a double-double. Senior Sania Wells (13 points) and Katlyn Manuel (12 points) also finished in double figures for the Warhawks.

Before the game, the team recognized five seniors for their contributions to the ULM women's basketball program including Bradford, Wells, Brianna Harris, Lauren Gross and Kyjai Miles. The senior class helped lead ULM to the most victories in a single season since the 2010-11 season and produced the first winning season in over a decade.

The Warhawks shot 46.2% from the field and 22.7% from deep, while Marshall shot 48.6% for the game and made 13-of-36 attempts from 3-point range. The Thundering Herd forced 21 turnovers while ULM created 15 turnovers on the defensive end.

ULM raced out to the lead in the first quarter after amassing a 14-0 scoring run that began with a three-pointer by Bradford. Bradford gave ULM a lead with a three-point play to make the score 11-9. Wells completed another three-point play for the Warhawks and bumped their advantage to 14-9. A jumper by Wells and another Bradford three increased ULM's cushion to 19-9 midway through the first. A three-point play by Johnson and a steal by Wells that led to a Johnson layup pushed ULM's lead to 16. The Warhawks led 32-17 at the end of the first. Gross lofted a pass from the baseline over the defense to Johnson for a layup to bring ULM's lead to 17 with 8:26 left in the second. Marshall trimmed the Warhawks' lead to five points with just under four minutes in the half. A ULM 4-0 run that included four points by Manuel brought the lead back to nine points for the Warhawks. Marshall continued to chip away at ULM's lead, and evened the score at 45-45 and 47-47 late in the first half. Manuel tiped in a missed shot before the buzzer to lift ULM back in the lead, 49-47 at the break.

Wells swished a three-pointer at the start of the third quarter to put ULM ahead by five. Marshall seized control of the lead after eight unanswered points to go ahead, 55-52. ULM trailed by 14 points with 4:23 to go and began to close in on Marshall's lead. After Johnson and Bradford both made a pair of free throws, Johnson picked off a Marshall pass that led to a Bradford layup to put ULM behind just eight points with 3:21 on the clock. ULM crept within five points of Marshall's lead after a Johnson free throw and a Bradford jumper, making the score 95-90 with 50 seconds left. Marshall held ULM scoreless the rest of the way, and won the game, 99-90.
