MONROE, La. - The ULM Warhawks conclude the 2023-24 regular season at 7 p.m. Friday against South Alabama at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Alabama. ULM enters the night in a tie for 11th place in the Sun Belt Conference standings, but with a win and some help, can move into the top 10 of the standings and earn a first-round bye in next week's Sun Belt Conference Championship in Pensacola, Florida. South Alabama is part of a four-way tie for seventh place, one game ahead of ULM.

• ULM (11-17 overall, 6-11 Sun Belt Conference) dropped Tuesday's game at Texas State, 73-55. The Bobcats opened the game on an 11-2 run and never let the Warhawks have a chance to tie or take the lead. Texas State led by double digits for over 32 minutes in the win, leading by as much as 22 points in the second half. Tyreke Locure led ULM with 13 points while Jalen Bolden added 12.

• Over the last 13 games, ULM has found its footing on the offensive end of the floor. The Warhawks have scored at least 70 points in nine of the last 13 games after hitting the mark just five times over the first 15 games of the season. Since Jan. 17, ULM ranks fifth in the SBC in 3-point field goal percentage (.354), sixth in field goal percentage (.446) and eighth in scoring offense (73.2 points per game). Individually in that span, Nika Metskhvarishvili is ninth in the SBC at 15.2 points per game and fifth in field goal percentage at .481 (65-of-135).

• Friday night's game between ULM and South Alabama features two players taking on their former schools. ULM's Tyreke Locure makes his final visit to the Mitchell Center Friday night, where he played for South Alabama for two seasons from 2019-21. South Alabama's Thomas Howell faces ULM for the second time since playing three seasons in Monroe from 2020-23.

• ULM enters the final game of the regular season fighting for a Top-10 seed in next week's Sun Belt Conference Championship. The top 10 teams earn a first round bye and are off until Thursday's second round at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Florida. Teams that finish 11th to 14th in the final SBC standings will play in Tuesday's first round. The Warhawks enter play on the final night tied for 11th in the SBC standings with Texas State. A loss to the Jaguars means ULM will play in Tuesday's first round. However, ULM is only one game back of seventh place in the standings. If ULM wins, the Warhawks could potentially move into the top 10 and earn a first round bye. There are eight possible tiebreaking scenarios if ULM wins over South Alabama Friday night. Only three allow ULM to advance with a first-round bye and play on Thursday.

FRIDAY'S GAME BASICS

South Alabama's Thomas Howell faces ULM for the second time since playing three seasons in Monroe from 2020-23.

Locure, a New Orleans native, faces South Alabama for the fourth time since transferring to UAB prior to the 2021-22 season, and then to ULM before the 2022-23 season. In two seasons at South Alabama, Locure played in 55 games with 38 starts, averaging 9.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He broke out as a sophomore in 2020-21, averaging 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

SUN BELT CHAMPIONSHIP SEEDING SCENARIOS
ULM enters the final game of the regular season fighting for a Top-10 seed in next week's Sun Belt Conference Championship. They are as follows:

• ULM defeats South Alabama, Marshall defeats Georgia State and Georgia Southern defeats Old Dominion on Friday, while Texas State loses to Troy: The result would be a three-way tie for ninth place between ULM, South Alabama and Georgia State at 7-11 in the SBC, with ULM seeded 10th. In this case, South Alabama is eliminated in the first step of the tiebreaker due to ULM and Georgia State each being unbeaten against USA. Georgia State wins a tiebreaker over ULM for the ninth seed. Both ULM and GSU are winless against the top three teams in the conference standings (App State, James Madison and Troy), but GSU is 1-0 against Arkansas State while ULM is 0-1 against the fourth-place Red Wolves. This gives GSU the ninth seed, ULM the 10th seed and South Alabama the 11th seed.

• ULM defeats South Alabama, Georgia State defeats Marshall, Georgia Southern defeats Old Dominion and Texas State loses to Troy: The result would be a three-way tie for ninth place between ULM, South Alabama and Marshall at 7-11 in the SBC, with ULM seeded ninth. In this case, ULM wins the three-way tiebreaker in the first step by having a 2-1 combined record against USA and Marshall (2-0 vs. USA, 0-1 vs. Marshall), while USA would be 1-2 and Marshall would be 1-1. ULM is granted the ninth seed, while South Alabama wins a head-to-head tiebreaker over Marshall for the 10th seed.

• ULM defeats South Alabama, Georgia State defeats Marshall, Georgia Southern loses to Old Dominion and Texas State defeats Troy: The result would be a five-way tie for eighth place between ULM, USA, Texas State, Marshall and Georgia Southern, with ULM seeded 10th. Nobody wins the first tiebreaker, which is the cumulative record against all teams tied for the seed. In the next step, Texas State is granted the No. 8 seed by virtue of its win over App State, while the other four teams are winless against the top seed Mountaineers. The tiebreaker resets with ULM, USA, Georgia Southern and Marshall. Nobody wins the first tiebreaker, which is the cumulative record against all teams tied for the seed. In the next step, USA is granted the No. 9 seed by virtue of its 1-1 record against third-seed Troy, after all four teams are winless against No. 1 App State and No. 2 James Madison. The tiebreaker resets again with ULM, Georgia Southern and Marshall. No team gains an advantage in the first tiebreaker, which is the cumulative record against all teams tied for the seed. In the next step, ULM is granted the No. 10 seed by virtue of its 1-1 record against No. 4 seed Arkansas State. Marshall is granted the No. 11 seed in the next tiebreaker by virtue of its 1-0 record against No. 5 seed Ragin' Cajuns, while Georgia Southern did not face the Cajuns.

WARHAWK OFFENSIVE RENAISSANCE
Over the last 13 games, ULM has found its footing on the offensive end of the floor. Since Jan. 17, ULM ranks fifth in the SBC in 3-point field goal percentage (.354), sixth in field goal percentage (.446) and eighth in scoring offense (73.2 points per game). The effort came six days after he came off the bench to score a career high 24 points, including the game-tying 3-pointer to force overtime with five seconds left in regulation, while matching a career best 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season on Jan. 28 vs. A-State.
