MONROE, La. – Central Arkansas scored eight runs across the final three innings, plating seven with two outs, while piling up a season-high 15 hits on its way to an 11-4 win over ULM Tuesday night at Lou St. Amant Field.
UCA (9-12 overall) led 3-1 after the fifth inning and kept the same margin entering the seventh inning. The Bears had the bases empty with two outs when the next seven batters reached base. Zeb Allen walked and Mason King singled to start the 2-out rally. Kade Seldomridge added a run to the lead with an RBI single to right field for the 4-1 lead. A.J. Mendolia then clubbed a 3-run home run to left field to extend the UCA lead to 7-1. An error, walk and hit batter allowed UCA to load the bases again, but
Aidan Haynes struck out Jagger Schattle to end the inning.
ULM responded in the bottom half of the inning as
Michelle Artzberger belted a 3-run home run off the light pole in right-center field to cut the deficit in half, 7-4. Artzberger has now reached base safely in 50-straight games, dating back to the 2022 season.
UCA gained a run back in the top of the eighth inning as the Bears loaded the bases with no outs, but a double play cut the threat short and allowed just one run to score for the 8-4 lead.
The Bears put the game away for good in the top of the ninth, scoring three more runs with two outs. Casey Shipley's RBI single to left scored Drew Sturgeon, and an error allowed Schattle and Shipley to each move up a base. Allen added an RBI infield single before King hit an RBI double down the left field line to bring in Shipley for the 11-4 lead.
UCA opened the scoring in the third inning, picking up an RBI double from Jake Trabbie and a sacrifice fly from Schattle for the 2-0 lead. ULM responded in the bottom of the third as

The Bears added a run in the fifth inning on Bryce Cermenelli's first home run of the season.
King had four hits, including a double, RBI and run scored, to lead UCA, while Trabbie had two doubles with an RBI. Mendolia had two hits with three RBIs on the home run, while Allen and Seldomridge each had two hits and an RBI.
Shawn Dalton Weatherbee and
Matt Abshire had two hits each for ULM.
Mason Griffin (4-2) earned the win for UCA, throwing 1 1/3 scoreless innings with two runs, four strikeouts and one walk. Four other Bear pitchers recorded at least one shutout inning in the win.
Joey Cirelli (0-1) took the loss for ULM, allowing two runs on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks in the start over 2 1/3 innings. Nine pitchers saw action on the mound for ULM, with only
Dalton Burrell throwing at least one inning without allowing a run, finishing with 1 2/3 innings, one hit and one strikeout.
ULM returns to Sun Belt Conference play at 6 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. CDT Friday at Georgia State.
