MONROE, La. – Missy Bilderback announced the signing of Florida State transfer Sakyia White to the ULM women's basketball roster on Friday (April 12). White played for Bilderback at Jones College and was the consensus No. 1 junior college player in 2022-23 according to World Exposure Report and Dan Olson Girls Basketball Report.
"We are so thankful to be able to reunite with Sakyia and to coach her again," said Bilderback. "She is an amazing person that is an absolute joy to coach every single day. Her consistency and positive attitude separate her. She has an incredibly high motor and plays extremely hard. But she is also very skilled an has a unique ability to finish at the rim. She averaged a double-double each night and does whatever it takes for her team to win. She is exactly what we needed here at ULM to take our program to the next level, and we are all thrilled SK is a Warhawk!"
A 6-1 forward from Tuscaloosa, Ala., White was a two-time First Team JUCO All-American during her career at Jones College and averaged above a double-double during her junior college career. In her first season, she averaged 16.8 points, 11.9 rebounds and shot 57.5 percent from the field, helping Jones to an NJCAA Final Four appearance. White continued to impress on the court her final year at Jones, where she recorded an 18.4 points per game scoring average and a 13.3 rebounds per game mark and was voted 2022-23 MACCC Player of the Year.
White appeared in 30 games at Florida State where she averaged 9.6 minutes per game and netted 2.6 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game. She scored a season-high 10 points at South Alabama. White began her collegiate career at North Alabama, where she was named the Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year after averaging 10.9 points and 9.6 rebounds. A standout at Central High School in Tuscaloosa, White was a three-time all-region and all-state selection and finished her career as the program's all-time leader in points (2,121), rebounds (1,645) and blocks (378).
