MONROE, La. -- ULM tennis honored
Giovanna Pereira on Senior Day in the Warhawks' final home match of the season on Friday (April 19), as ULM fell to Texas State 4-0 in the last regular season match. Pereira, a native of Minas Gerais, Brazil, competed on the ULM tennis team for five seasons.Â
Pereira and her doubles partner,
Angela Del Campo Suarez, captured a 6-1 win in No. 2 doubles over Texas State's Emma Carr and Emily Niers. The Bobcats won No. 1 & 3 doubles to claim the point as Sofia Fortuno and Maria Lora defeated
Tamara Bachmann and
Alice Klinteby 6-4 in the No. 1 pairing and Callie Creath and Kiana Graham won 6-2 over
Raquel Alvaro and
Mackenzie King.
In singles play, Lora won 6-1, 6-1 over Alvaro in No. 6 singles and Pineda won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 5 singles. The Bobcats clinched the match when Fortuno defeated Periera 6-3, 6-3. A trio of matches were left unfinished including Graham versus
Mariam Hatem (6-1, 4-4), Del Campo Suarez versus Creath (6-3, 1-1) and Niers versus Klinteby (7-6 (7-3), 0-3).
The Warhawks will begin the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Wednesday (April 24) in Rome, Georgia. The seedings will be revealed when the regular season finishes tomorrow.
