LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Junior triple jumper
Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi qualified for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., after finishing in the Top 12 of the triple jump at the NCAA East Regional Preliminaries at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Facility in Lexington, Ky.
Ilunga Mbuyi finished fifth overall in the triple jump at the final day of competition on Saturday with a jump of 13.13 meters (43-1). The Olivet, France native is back in the NCAA National Championships for the second consecutive season after recording a qualifying mark last season in the same event.
Other Warhawks that competed at the NCAA East Regional Preliminaries included
Kimone Campbell in the 800 meters (2:07.78, 42nd),
Wardell Glaspie in the discus (175-9, 25th),
Stafon Roach in the triple jump (49-6.5, 38th) and
Darshon Turk in the 110 meter hurdles (14.37 43rd).
Ilunga Mbuyi will prepare for the NCAA National Track & Field Championships and will compete in the triple jump on Saturday, June 8 at 4:50 p.m. CT/2:50 p.m. PT at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. The event will be broadcast on ESPN starting at 4:30 p.m. CT.
