ULM Soccer Gets the Win Over McNeese, 2-0

The Warhawks are now 5-0 to start the season for the first time in program history.

MONROE, La. – After a scoreless first half and a rain delay taking the last minutes of the second, the ULM soccer team is now 5-0 on the season. Goals off penalty kicks from Janne Van Brummelen and Kai Douglas sealed the victory in the second half.

The first half was full of fouls for the Warhawks, taking on eight fouls in the first 45 minutes of the match. ULM led in shots 6-2 and corners 4-0, but the Warhawks and the Cowgirls ended the half tied 0-0 with McNeese goalkeeper Jackie Kelly logging five saves.

The second half started as foul-ridden and shot-heavy as the first, as both teams looked to take the lead. In the 63rd minute, a McNeese foul gave Van Brummelen the opportunity to score the game winner on a penalty kick. This is the senior midfielder's first goal of the season and second of her career.

13 minutes later, another penalty kick was given to ULM, Douglas scoring her fourth goal in five matches. With her second PK of the season, Douglas now ranks fifth all-time in season penalty kicks.

The game was ended shortly after due to a weather delay.
