NEW ORLEANS, La – The ULM volleyball team suffered a competitive 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-20) loss to Green Wave Classic host Tulane on Sunday.
In the first set, both teams started even with the Warhawks (2-7) leading 9-7. The Green Wave (5-4) produced a 6-1 scoring run to take a three-point lead. ULM responded with a 4-1 run to tie the set. After both teams went back and forth, Tulane, with the help of three attack errors by the Warhawks, used a 6-2 run to take a 23-19 lead. It held on to the advantage to take the first set 25-22.
The Green Wave started set two on fire with a 10-5 start. ULM slowly came back and even trailed by as little as 2 with a 17-15 score. Tulane scored the next seven points to bring it to set point, and after a bad set by the Warhawks, it won the set.
The third set was evenly matched, with the biggest run on both sides being 3-0. With a 22-20 lead, the Green Wave, with two kills, claimed the set and the match with a final 3-0 run. With the loss, the Warhawks come out of the weekend winning one of the three contests.
Taly Cloyd led the team in kills with 12, and
Ryley Boyne was right behind her with 10.
Morgan Howard produced 27 of the 33 assists for the Warhawks.
Cameron Rogers led the team with 17 digs.
ULM plays in its fourth and final non-conference tournament next weekend in Stephenville, Texas. Its first match takes place vs. Houston Christian on Friday, September 20 at 2 p.m.
