Warhawks Fall to Hot-Shooting Hoosiers

ULM women's basketball drop to 5-4 on the season.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The ULM women's basketball team (5-4, 0-0 Sun Belt) found themselves on the wrong end of an offensive onslaught as they lost to Indiana (9-2, 0-1 Big Ten) 98-54. The Hoosiers shot a robust 64 percent from the field while holding the Warhawks to 28 percent shooting for the game.

Asjah Inniss established a new career high with 16 points as she knocked down four of five three-point attempts to lead ULM in scoring. J'Mani Ingram and Nakiyah Mays-Prince each finished with 11 points on 5-for-15 shooting while Asia Barclay and Marissa Gasaway each pulled down a team high eight rebounds.

Indiana jumped out to a 10-2 lead before Inniss connected on her first triple of the night after stealing the ball. Back-to-back baskets by Ingram and Barclay cut the deficit down to three but the Hoosiers would answer with an 8-0 run prior to another three-pointer from Inniss which would bring the score to 20-12 in favor of the home team.

The hot shooting continued into the second quarter as the Hoosiers utilized another 8-0 run to extend their lead before it was eventually answered by baskets from Ingram and Mays-Prince. The Warhawks were unable to keep pace with their hosts who went into halftime having shot 64 percent from the field.

ULM recorded their best offensive quarter in the third but were unable to chip away at the lead. The Hoosiers would go on to hit six three-pointers in the fourth quarter to secure the victory as they finished the evening converting on 13-of-24 attempts from long range.

Despite the margin of victory, the Warhawks finished the game with a 19-1 advantage in offensive rebounds which led to a 15-2 advantage in second chance points. ULM also forced 16 turnovers and the bench outscored Indiana's 29-13.

The Warhawks will now prepare for their Sun Belt Conference opener as they are set to take on Arkansas State on Wednesday. Tipoff at First National Bank Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.
