NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The ULM men's basketball team fell 96-76 against SFA Sunday afternoon, thanks to a 55% shooting performance by the home team.

The Lumberjacks (7-2) went 38-69 from the field and made 12 three pointers. In comparison, the Warhawks (2-7) shot just 39% in field goals.

The first half started with a 5-5 score with Renars Sonders and
Krystian Lewis making a jumper and a three-point shot for the Warhawks. The Lumberjacks put together a 7-0 run to establish control early. Trailing by seven,
Lavell Brodnex slammed down a dunk to put ULM within five with 16:00 to go in the first.

In the next five minutes of play, SFA maintained a two-possession margin until
MJ Russell drained a three-pointer to put the Warhawks within a score. The Lumberjacks wasted no time in responding with five unanswered points to set the margin at eight with 10:29 left to play.

Three points by Russell and a basket by Lewis made it a one-score game again before another 5-0 run by SFA put the deficit back to eight. Both teams traded blows before a 7-2 run by the Warhawks put them within five with less than four minutes in the first half. After a made layup by Russell, ULM was held scoreless for the remaining 2:19 of the half, and two more Lumberjack buckets resulted in a 47-37 game at the break.

The Warhawks continued their scoring drought in the first 2:40 of the second half before a layup by Lewis ended it. Trailing by 13, three Lewis free throws and a layup on the fastbreak by
Alex Molofeev made it an eight-point contest with 15:44 to go.

The Lumberjacks opened up a barrage of three pointers in response, with Narit Chotikavanic making two of the three shots for SFA, resulting in a 63-48 score. Two more shots beyond the arch put the Lumberjacks up by 19, their biggest lead of the day at that point with 11:20 left. SFA led by at least 15 points the rest of the way, cruising to a 20-point victory.

Brodnex led the team in scoring with a season-high 23 points and had 11 rebounds, while Russell crossed the 20-point mark. Lewis also recorded double-digit points and collected two steals.
