TIP-OFF
The ULM men's basketball team (7-21, 3-12) is set to play its last road game of the regular season versus Arkansas State (19-9, 10-5) on Saturday (Feb. 22) afternoon at 2 p.m. from First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro, Ark.
After a home win versus Southern Miss last Saturday, the Warhawks began their final road trip of the regular season with an 80-63 loss at Texas State on Wednesday night. With three games remaining, The Warhawks currently sit two games behind Southern Miss and hold a one-game edge on Coastal Carolina in the SBC Standings.
SERIES HISTORY –
Arkansas State leads the all-time series, 47-33 and has won three of the previous five meetings. ULM last won at First National Bank Arena on New Year's Eve in 2022 with an 84-72 win over A-State. The Warhawks are 8-32 all-time in Jonesboro. Â
SCOUTING THE RED WOLVES –
The Red Wolves have lost four of their last five games after winning seven-straight. A-State entered last Saturday's game versus Troy undefeated at home, but has fallen in close games to both Troy and South Alabama within the past week.
As a team, the Red Wolves are one of the top rebounding teams in the country and average 40.6 boards per game, which is the top average of the SBC and 11th in the nation. Taryn Todd enters Saturday's game scoring 15.1 points per game and is sixth in the conferene with 424 total points scored.
RICHARD ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT AT CONCLUSION OF SEASON–
ULM men's basketball coach Keith Richard announced on Friday (Dec. 20) his intention to retire at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. Richard will complete his 15th season as the head coach of ULM men's basketball. Richard inherited a program saddled with APR sanctions and guided the Warhawks to four postseason appearances in five years. Richard previously served as the head coach of Louisiana Tech from 1998-2007 and was an assistant at LSU from 2008-10 before being named ULM's head coach and has accumulated over 300 victories as a head coach.
LOOKING AHEAD –
ULM begins its final homestand of the 2024-25 season on Tuesday (Feb. 25) night at 6:30 p.m. with James Madison making its first trip to Monroe.
