TIP-OFF
The ULM men's basketball team (7-22, 3-13) start the final homestand of the season with a Tuesday night matchup against James Madison. It has lost the past two contests, including a 70-95 loss in Jonesboro to Arkansas State last weekend.
The loss on Saturday set ULM's conference record to 3-13. The Warhawks enter this week 13th in Sun Belt standings, leading Coastal Carolina by one game and trailing 12th place Southern Miss by two games.
SERIES HISTORY –
ULM and James Madison will face off for only the third time in series history. The Dukes have won the prevoius two contests, with the latest win being an 89-70 score at Harrisonburg last season.
SCOUTING THE DUKES –
James Madison has won four in a row, including a 78-73 win at home over Georgia Southern last Saturday. The Dukes currently sit at first place in the conference with a 12-4 record, and lead Arkansas State, South Alabama, and Troy by one game.
Leading in scoring for the Dukes is redshirt senior Mark Freeman, who averages 14.6 points per game and also has a team-leading 3.1 assists per game. Redshirt freshman Bryce Lindsay also ranks well with 13.2 ppg.
RICHARD ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT AT CONCLUSION OF SEASON–
ULM men's basketball coach Keith Richard announced his intention to retire at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. Richard will complete his 15th season as the head coach of ULM men's basketball and will coach in his final two games at Fant-Ewing Coliseum this week. A former ULM student-athlete, assistant coach and graduate assistant, Richard inherited a program saddled with APR sanctions and guided the Warhawks to four postseason appearances in five years. Richard previously served as the head coach of Louisiana Tech from 1998-2007 and was an assistant at LSU from 2008-10 before being named ULM's head coach and has accumulated over 300 victories as a head coach.
