BIRMINGHAM – Algirdas Strelciunas and the DMR highlighted day one of competition for the ULM indoor track and field team at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships on Monday.

Strelciunas placed first in the men's long jump with a personal best 7.66m (25-1.75) mark. Carlo Martinez-Jaramillo,
Matthew Malcolm,
Reid Guirlando, and
Juwan Blignaut won in the men's DMR, placing first out of seven teams.

Chase Gunn had a top-ten finish in the 5000m race with a 14:46.18 time.
Benedikt Schweizer placed ninth in the weight throw, while
Stafon Roach finished seventh in the long jump.

For the prelims, Blignaut and Martinez-Jaramillo advanced to the finals on day two in the mile run.
Devin Bilbo and
Jovan Canak qualified for the 60m hurdles finals, and
Santana Richardson qualified in the 400m. In the 800m,
Elijah Palao and Guirlando reached the final eight for day two, and
J'Marcus Sewell qualified for the 200m race. For the women,
Lilly Schuster qualified in the mile run placing seventh in the prelims.
