EUGENE, Ore. – Freshman
Francisco Calhau will be traveling to Eugene, Oregon to compete in the NCAA National Championships. Calhau will represent the Warhawks in the hammer throw on Wednesday (June 10), competing at 2:30 p.m. PT / 4:30 p.m. CT.Â
Calhau made his mark in his freshman season with ULM, reaching the podium in five of the seven meets he's competed in with three wins. His career-best 66.42m distance ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference and fifth in the South-Central Region. He was named Sun Belt Men's Field Athlete of the Week on April 2. The personal-best mark of 66.42m was set at NCAA East Regionals in Lexington, Kentucky, where the freshman placed 10th in his flight.
The thrower will compete in the first flight of the competition as the lone Sun Belt thrower competing in the hammer in Eugene. He is one of five freshmen competing.
