MONROE, La. -- In celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports Day, ULM Athletics and Women Take FLIGHT will be hosting a panel on Women's Leadership Through Sports on Wednesday, February 5. The panel features current women athletes as they share how their participation in sports helped develop their leadership skills.
Confirmed speakers include Victoria Abrams, current ULM softball student-athlete; Alaura Sharp, Appalachian State Women's Basketball Coach; and Lena Satge Ormond, ULM Tennis alumna and Investment Advisor Representative with Summit Financial. The panel will be moderated by Carmen Wright, Director of Student-Athlete Success/Senior Women's Administrator and former softball player at ULM.Â
"I am thrilled that Women Take FLIGHT is partnering with Athletics to host this programming," said Leigh N. Hersey, PhD, and organizer for Women Take FLIGHT. "As a professional development program focusing on women, we know the phenomenal leaders we have in Athletics and are glad we can spotlight them in this session."
The Women's Leadership Through Sports panel will take place on Wednesday, February 5, in the Terrace, on the 7th Floor of the ULM library. Women Take FLIGHT works directly with women staff and faculty to cultivate leadership skills and provide opportunities for professional development and career advancement. Currently in its fourth year, the program offers workshops and mentoring programs for the women on ULM's campus.Â
