TORONTO -- Former ULM offensive tackle
Sam Carson was selected in the Canadian Football League Draft with the 12th pick of the second round by the Ottawa Redblacks on Tuesday (April 29) night.
Carson arrived at ULM prior to the 2023 season as a transfer from Calgary University. The Calgary native played two seasons with the Warhawks and broke into the starting lineup his senior year in 2024. He made nine starts at left tackle and saw action in 17 contests during his ULM career. Off the field, Carson was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy by the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Football Hall of Fame.
2024 (SENIOR)

- Anchored an offensive line that helped Calgary average nearly 175 rushing yards per game and 6.2 yards per carry
- Dinos recorded two 200-yard rushing games in 2021
- Set season highs for rushing attempts (32) and rushing yards (240) vs. British Columbia
- Ran 28 times for 215 yards vs. Manitoba

HENRY WISE WOOD HS
- Played at Henry Wise Wood High School in Calgary, Alberta
- Named recipient of the 2019-20 prestigious Harry Hood Memorial Award, presented annually since 1956 to the top graduating high school player in Calgary Division I football that combines academics, athletics, sportsmanship and dedication
- Selected to participate in the 2020 Montana East-West Shrine Game in Billings, Montana; named to the East Roster – one of two Canadian players named to initial rosters
- Named captain of Alberta Team that played in the 2019 Canada Cup in Kingston, Ontario
- Earned a roster spot on the 2018 U16 Canada West All-Star Team that competed in International Bowl IX in Arlington, Texas
- Sat out the entire 2018 high school season with an ankle injury

- Son of Paul and Sherry Carson
- Father Paul, who became an All-Canadian Second-Team selection as an offensive guard for the University of Calgary and won two Vanier Cups (1985 and 1988), also served as his position coach in college
- His brother, Matt, was a defensive lineman for the Dinos from 2013-17 and was selected in the eighth round of the 2017 CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts
