Preview: Warhawks Take on Sun Belt Outdoor Championships

The ULM outdoor track and field team travels to Harrisonburg, Virginia for the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships from Thursday, May 8 through Saturday, May 10.
 
Last season, ULM hosted the annual event at Brown Stadium on Groseclose Track. The men's and women's teams both placed eighth out of ten and 13 teams in 2024.
 
The Warhawks begin Thursday with the heptathlon competition starting at 11 a.m., followed by the hammer throws at noon and 2:30 p.m. Other finals on day one include the women's javelin throw and pole vault, and the men's javelin throw. The 1500m, 200m, and 400m hurdle races make up the prelims of the first day of competition.
 
On day two, the heptathlon concludes at 11:15 a.m., while another round of the men's 400m hurdles prelims occurs. Field events include the men's and women's long jump and shot put, and the men's pole vault. Prelims for the women's 100m and men's 110m hurdles, 800m, 400m, and 100m races round up day two.
 
Saturdays start at noon with the men's triple jump and women's discus throw, followed by the women's high jump at 12:30 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. is the men's discus throw, followed by the women's triple jump and men's high jump. At 4 p.m. is the 4x100m relays with the 1500m, 100m, and 110m hurdles, and 400m finals afterwards. After the 100m races starting at 5:20 p.m. are the 800m, 400m hurdles, and 200m. The championships end with the final 5000m runs and 4x400m relays, followed by the awards presentation.
