MOBILE, Ala. – The ULM men's basketball team (4-25, 1-15 Sun Belt) takes on the final road slate of the 2026 season with a midweek game against South Alabama in Mobile. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY –Â
The Warhawks and Jaguars clash for the 36th time in series history with the latter leading the all-time record 19-16. South Alabama won the first matchup of the 2026 season with a thrilling 96-92 double-overtime win which saw a 14 point comeback in the final three minutes of regulation. ULM swept the series in 2025, winning both matchups in Monroe and Mobile.
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS –
South Alabama currently holds a 10-6 Sun Belt record and stands at second place in the conference, half a game behind App State for the first-place spot. It enters the game having beaten Troy 65-54 last Saturday at home. The Jaguars are led in scoring by Chaze Harris with 18.9 points per game, which leads the conference in that category. Also averaging double-digit points is Adam Olsen (16.4), Peyton Law (12.8) and Jayden Cooper (11.4). Law also leads the team in rebounds with 6.0 boards per game.
LEADING THE TEAM –
Four Warhawks average over 10 points per game, with Krystian Lewis leading the pack at 18.3 ppg. He held a streak of five 20+-point games from January 30 through February 11, collecting 32 points at Arkansas State, and most recently totaled a career-high 33 points vs. Arkansas State. He also leads the team in assists (3.3) and steals (1.6). MJ Russell (15.4), Lavell Brodnex (14.8) and Renars Sondors (11.2) also post double-digit scoring averages this season.Â
BRODNEX BOARDS –
Lavell Brodnex has been leading the charge in rebounding since his debut for ULM on November 13, averaging 8.3 boards per game. With his double-digit scoring average, Brodnex has posted nine double-doubles so far this season, which is second in the Sun Belt. The forward reached a career-high 18 rebounds against Arkansas Baptist, the second-most recorded by a Sun Belt player this season.
COLLECTING MINUTES –Â
MJ Russell and Krystian Lewis, ULM's scoring leaders, also lead the Sun Belt with the most playing time per game. Russell averages just under 36 minutes per game to rank third in the  league and 31st in the NCAA. Lewis is closely behind at 35.4 minutes, placing him fifth in the conference and 40th in the NCAA.
FROM THE CHARITY STRIPE –Â
The Warhawks have attempted double-digit free throws in 27 of their 29 contests, attempting a whopping 41 free throws against Arkansas Baptist on December 9, making 31. The 41 attempted free throws is the second-most attempted by a Sun Belt team this season. Against the Ragin' Cajuns on December 20, ULM hit 26 free throws. Krystian Lewis led the charge, hitting 15 of his 18 free throws. Lewis sits at second in the Sun Belt and is ranked tenth nationally with 170 free throws made.
TRIPLE THE FUN –
On December 17 against South Alabama, ULM hit 19 three-pointers, 12 coming in the first half. The 19 triples is a team-high across all Sun Belt teams this season, Krystian Lewis claiming the Sun Belt high with eight triples.Â
DOUBLE OVERTIME –
The Warhawks went to double overtime in Fant-Ewing Coliseum on December 17 against South Alabama, falling in a close game across 50 minutes. This is the 14th instance of double overtime in the program's history, the team holding a 6-8 record when playing double overtime games. The last 2OT game in Monroe was 2014 against the Ragin' Cajuns.
