LEXINGTON, Ky. – Francisco Calhau led the Warhawks in the first day of the NCAA East Regionals, the freshman recording a personal best in the hammer throw to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Calhau finished 10th on the leaderboard with a 66.42m hammer throw, as the top 12 reach qualification for Eugene. Three other Warhawks competed in the first day of East Regionals, as
Nathan Wade recorded a 7.63m in the long jump, placing 13th.
Matthew Malcolm and
Mario Santin both competed in the 400m hurdles, Malcolm finishing 24th with a 50.86 and Santin recording a 51.79 to finish 38th.Â
The Warhawks will continue to compete at East Regionals,
Sydney Lake competing in the hammer throw on Thursday (May 28).
