MONROE, La. — The ULM football team will be making the trip down to Baton Rouge, facing local opponent LSU in the 2028 season, as announced on Friday (July 17). The teams will match up on August 26, becoming the first faceoff in seven years for the two teams.
 
"We are looking forward to the trip to Baton Rouge and appreciative of LSU hosting us in 2028," said Director of Athletics SJ Tuohy. "We have many crossover fans in northeast Louisiana who I know will be looking forward to the game. It is incredibly important for our state that our institutions support each other; we also try to be mindful of that when scheduling games, especially with our revenue generating sports."
 
The last meeting between LSU and ULM came in 2021 and the Warhawks have not opened the season in Death Valley since 2003. The Tigers become yet another local opponent for ULM to compete against, after hosting three local opponents in the upcoming 2026 slate: Southeastern Louisiana, Louisiana Tech and the Ragin' Cajuns. Fans can purchase a three-game mini bundle of these three games ahead of the 2026 season.
 
The 2026 season will open for the Warhawks on September 5, as ULM travels to face Mississippi State at 6:30 p.m. in Starkville.
