MONROE, La. — The ULM volleyball team (2-2) earned its first win at home of the 2026 season with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-19) sweep over Northwestern State (1-3). The victory came during ULM's first official sporting event inside the newly named b1Bank Fant Coliseum.
Second-year Aniya Hall had 13 kills on the match, making it her fourth straight game in double digits. She added an assist, four digs and a block. Fourth-year Abby Cunningham made 10 kills, as well as contributed two blocks on the defensive side.
First-year Tatum Clay locked down the net with four blocks, while first-year Grace Troxell hit .353 with eight kills.
The Demons jumped out to a four-point lead in the opening set, leading 12-8 after going on a five-point scoring run. The Warhawks chipped away at the deficit, closing the gap to 14-13 with an ace from fourth-year Morgan Howard and kills from Hall and Troxell. Cunningham tied the score at 14 each with a solo block, and ULM then went on a seven-point run to lead 21-15. The Warhawks sealed the 25-20 set win on a kill from fourth-year Kenzie Behl.
ULM forced offensive errors from the Demons early in the second set, capitalizing to lead 8-4. Back-to-back kills by Hall gave the Warhawks a 15-11 lead going into the media timeout. Coming out of the break, Clay scored consecutive points with a solo block and a service ace, boosting the Warhawks to a 19-13 lead, and forcing the Demons to regroup. ULM took a 2-0 lead when Cunningham made her fifth kill of the set, winning 25-20.
The match-clinching third set began with a Northwestern State 4-0 run, answered immediately by a 4-0 run from the Warhawks. The two teams traded points until ULM took a slight 15-14 going into the media timeout thanks to an error forced by fifth-year Briana Raney's serve. ULM's six-point run made it 22-16. The run included four Demon errors and kills by Clay and Hall. Troxell ended the match with her eighth kill, cementing the Warhawks' first victory at home, at ULM's first at b1Bank Fant Coliseum.
The Warhawks will hit the road for Phoenix, Arizona for the GCU Invitational to play Grand Canyon on Friday (Sept. 4), Temple on Saturday (Sept. 5) and San Francisco on Sunday (Sept. 6).
