Ryan McClaran enters his second season as Recruiting Coordinator and Pitching Coach at ULM in 2024.

“I am happy to announce that Ryan McClaran and his fiancé Brynn D’Arcangelo will be joining our ULM baseball family,” ULM Head Baseball Coach Michael Federico said. “Ryan comes to us from a storied program at the University of Maine. Ryan has deep roots in the state of Texas, where he grew up and played. He possesses unbelievable leadership skills as a former member of the United States Army.

“Ryan will head up recruiting and be our pitching coach. He will bring a new level of toughness, resiliency and perseverance to our program. I look forward to working with Ryan McClaran and having him mesh with our staff to continue to build and grow Warhawk baseball.”

McClaran comes to ULM from Maine, where he was an assistant coach for the last two seasons. In 2022, he helped the Black Bears to a 27-22 record and a 21-9 mark in the America East Conference to claim the top seed in the conference tournament. The 21 conference victories marked the most for Maine since 2013 and the second-most in program history. The Black Bears led the America East in strikeouts thrown (268) and pitcher Trevor LaBonte was among four players to earn First-Team All-AE honors.

In his first season in Orono, McClaran helped Maine to a 22-22 record and an appearance in the AE Tournament. Nicholas Sinacola was named a First-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, becoming the first Black Bear to be named First-Team All-American since 1991 and just the fourth in program history.

Before Maine, McClaran spent a season at El Paso Community College as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He primarily handled the team’s pitching staff. Prior to El Paso, he also worked for Murray State College and Missouri Baptist. While at Missouri Baptist, he helped the Spartans to a fourth-place finish at the NAIA World Series.

Prior to starting his coaching career, McClaran served in the United States Army Infantry.

In his playing career, McClaran was a two-time Team USA selection, two-time Texas All-State selection, Team Texas selection, team captain at Odessa College and made a trip to the NAIA World Series with Missouri Baptist.
