Anthony Camp begins his second season defensive line coach at ULM.
The 35-year-old Camp made an immediate impact in his first year on the Warhawk staff in 2018. ULM’s defensive line showed significant improvement in its productivity under Camp, increasing its totals in tackles for loss (+14.5) and sacks (+5.0) from the previous season.
Defensive end Donald Louis Jr. received All-Sun Belt honorable mention in 2018 after setting career highs for tackles for loss (6.5) and sacks (4.5).
Camp previously spent three seasons as the defensive line coach under Tim Rebowe at Nicholls State (2015-17).
In 2017, the Colonels finished 8-4 overall, tied for third in the Southland Conference standings at 7-2, and appeared in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoffs for the first time since 2005. Nicholls ranked among the Southland leaders in scoring defense (third at 25.2 points per game), pass defense (third at 206.3 yards per game), total defense (third at 352.2 ypg.), sacks (third with 34 for 218 yards) and rushing defense (fourth at 145.4 ypg.). Three of Camp's defensive linemen finished among the league's Top 10 in sacks, including sophomore Sully Laiche (fifth with 7.4 for 61 yards), junior Kenny Dotson (seventh with 6.5 for 44) and senior Marcel Andry (eighth with 5.5 for 36). Laiche and Dotson were both named second-team All-Southland last season.
In 2016, Nicholls' defensive line produced 34 tackles for loss, including 19 sacks. As a true freshman, Laiche earned first-team All-Southland honors after recording 13 tackles for losses, including 9.5 sacks. He finished second in the conference and No. 12 in the NCAA FCS rankings with 0.86 sacks per game.
Camp arrived at Nicholls following six seasons as a high school coach in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In three seasons as the defensive coordinator, he helped Catholic High School to a combined record of 26-8 (.765) from 2012-14, including a District 5-5A co-championship in 2013 and an outright title in 2014. In his final season, the Bears went 9-2 and advanced to the Division I select quarterfinals for the second year in a row.
He spent three years as a defensive assistant at his prep alma mater, Parkview Baptist (2009-11), where the Eagles claimed the 2010 Class 3A title.
Camp launched his coaching career as a graduate assistant at both McNeese State (2006-07) and Louisiana Lafayette (2008).
He was a two-year letterman (2004-05) as a defensive end for head coach Tommy Tate at McNeese. Camp earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from McNeese in 2007. He received a teaching certificate in secondary education from Louisiana College in 2009.
He is married to the former Aubre Lindsay of Baton Rouge. The couple has an infant son, named Asher.
