Davern Williams

Davern Williams joined the ULM football coaching staff in 2024 as the team's defensive line coach. 

Williams coached All-Sun Belt Second Team Defensive Lineman Kevontay Wells, who was a key factor on the ULM defense, leading the Warhawks with 11.0 tackles for loss. Wells added three sacks and 50 total tackles. As a team, the Warhawks’ total defense improved to sixth in the conference in 2024 after ranking 13th in 2023, and surrendered an average of 384.0 yards per game, an improvement of over 60 yards. 

Williams arrives at ULM after most recently serving as the defensive ends coach at Kennesaw State during the 2023 season. Williams was the former Director of Player Personnel at UAB in 2022. He worked as the defensive line coach at Troy, his alma mater, from 2019-21. Before Troy, Williams spent one season as the defensive line coach at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2018. From 2014-17, Williams was the defensive line coach at East Mississippi Community College and helped coach the Lions to a 42-3 record and a pair of NJCAA National Championships. EMCC was also featured in two seasons of the Last Chance U documentary series on Netflix. Williams also was an assistant coach at Murray State (2013) and Jacksonville State (2009-12). The Montgomery, Alabama native earned All-Southland Conference honors at Troy and was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2003. He signed with the New York Giants in 2004 and made one start while appearing in three games.
