The 2021 season will be the first for Mike DiAngelo at ULM as he reunites with Warhawk offensive coordinator Rich Rodriquez after serving with Rodriguez at both Arizona (2013-19) and Ole Miss (2019). With coaching experience on both sides of the ball, DiAngelo will work ULM’s tight ends and inside receivers.

DiAngelo spent his last two seasons working with the quarterback corps as an analyst at Illinois in 2020 and Ole Miss in 2019. He joined Rodriguez’s staff at Arizona in spring 2013 and worked with the Wildcat safeties for three seasons as the defensive graduate assistant while assisting with all facets of the defense. He was promoted to defensive analyst in 2015.

At Arizona, DiAngelo displayed his coaching talents on defense, tutoring multiple NFL Draft pick defensive backs, including 2016 sixth-round pick Will Parks and 2018 fifth-round pick Dane Cruikshank. Arizona checked in at No. 4 in the nation in forced fumbles and 12th in tackles for loss in 2014 and No. 7 in interceptions in 2017. In his first season with the Wildcats, 2013, the defense earned a No. 13 ranking with 18 interceptions.

Success on the offensive side of the ball was showcased during DiAngelo’s season at Ole Miss. Rebel quarterback John Rhys Plumlee resided in the upper echelon of the NCAA individual rushing rankings in 2019, finishing second in the nation at 6.64 yards per carry. His 113.7 rushing yards per game led the Southeastern Conference, good for eighth in the country, and his 12 rushing touchdowns ranked fourth in the league.

Prior to joining Rodriguez at Arizona, DiAngelo gained six years of experience on the coaching staff at Washington & Jefferson College. From 2007-2013, DiAngelo served in various roles, including secondary coach, quarterback and receivers coach, special teams coordinator and also served as the program’s strength and conditioning coordinator.

DiAngelo helped W&J earn the school’s 23rd Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship and 22nd NCAA Division III playoff appearance during the 2012 season. As special teams coordinator, he played a critical role in the development of Eric Eberle, who became one of the region’s top kickers/punters. Eberle booted 11 field goals (second in school history) and was an All-PAC first-team selection. W&J led the conference in kickoff coverage with a 40.6-yard per game advantage over its opponents.

In 2011, DiAngelo helped the Presidents rank 37th in total defense (299.3 ypg.). He also coached wide receiver David Ravida, who finished his career as the Presidents’ all-time leading receiver with 191 catches.

DiAngelo spent 2006, his first season after graduation, as an assistant football coach at Division II Concord University (W.Va.) where he coached the Mountain Lion quarterbacks. He also assisted with the special teams.

From Steubenville, Ohio, DiAngelo was a four-year member of the Baldwin-Wallace (2002-05) football program and a two-year starting quarterback. As a junior, he threw for 1,249 yards and eight touchdowns. During his sophomore season in 2003, the Yellow Jackets earned a bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

DiAngelo graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2006 and earned a master’s degree in education from Franciscan University (Steubenville, Ohio) in 2009. While at Arizona, he added a second master’s degree in educational leadership in 2016.

In July 2021, DiAngelo married Lauren Pavlik of Steubenville, Ohio.
