Pat Lambert, who has more than 40 years of experience in coaching and administration, is in his fourth season as assistant athletics director for football operations at ULM.

Lambert begins his 12th season overall on the Monroe campus as he previously spent eight years as an assistant coach at ULM from 1993-2000. He has held positions for four different ULM head coaches, including Dave Roberts, Ed Zaunbrecher, Bobby Keasler and Matt Viator.

Lambert began his first stint at ULM as the running backs, tight ends and special teams coach under Roberts in 1993 – the school’s final season of competition as an NCAA I-AA member. He was retained as running backs and special teams coach by Zaunbrecher in 1994 as the Warhawks became an NCAA Division I-A Independent. In 1995, Lambert switched sides of the football, becoming defensive line coach where he helped developed Steve Foley, Jonathan Foster and Chad Ducre. From 1999-2000, he coached the running backs and special teams under Keasler.

A native of Slidell, Lambert spent 38 years coaching high school football in Louisiana, including 33 seasons at public schools.

He served as head coach at Archbishop Hannan in Covington for five seasons from 2010-14, leading the Hawks to the 2013 Division III Championship Game. Hannon knocked off Westminster Academy, Pope John Paul II and top-seeded Episcopal en route to its first-ever trip to a state title game.

During his nearly four decades of coaching at the high school level, Lambert has served as either the head coach or an assistant at Covington, Brother Martin, Slidell, Northshore, Amite and Bogalusa.

In the early 1970s, Lambert joined the ULM (formerly Northeast Louisiana) football team as a walk-on wide receiver and kicker, playing one season each for Dixie White (1971) and Ollie Keller (1972).

He earned his bachelor’s degree in social studies and physical education from ULM in 1974.
