Sammy Joseph

Sammy Joseph enters his second season on Bryant Vincent’s coaching staff. Joseph joined the ULM football coaching staff in 2024 as the cornerbacks coach and moved to the nickels coach in 2025. 

In 2024, Joseph coached All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention cornerback David Godsey Jr and also coached Washington Commanders free agent signee Car’lin Vigers. Joseph’s guidance helped the Warhawks surrender the fewest passing yards allowed per game, averaging 183.9 passing yards allowed. 

Joseph most recently served as a quality control coach at Memphis. While at Memphis, Joseph helped the Tigers win 23 games in three seasons, including bowl victories in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl during the 2022 season and the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in 2023. He also coached Sean Dykes, who broke Memphis' career touchdown and receiving yards records for tight ends in school history. Prior to Memphis, Joseph coached running backs at Nicholls State, helping the Colonels win consecutive conference titles in 2018 & 2019. Joseph mentored All-American running back Julian Gums, rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2019. He joined the Colonels staff after coaching at St. Michael's Academy in Austin, Texas, where he served as the wide receivers and defensive backs coach while also directing the strength and conditioning program. From Marrero, Louisiana, Joseph began his coaching career at LSU from 2014-15 as a strength and conditioning coaching intern. He was a standout defensive back at the University of Colorado (2003-04) and LSU (2005-06). As a player, he won three bowl games including the 2004 Capital One Bowl, 2005 Peach Bowl and 2006 Sugar Bowl. He also played professionally for the San Francisco 49ers (2007) and Toronto Argonauts (2009-11).
