NEW ORLEANS, La.?ULM had a record 107 student-athletes honored by the Sun Belt Conference on the Commissioner's List and Academic Honor Roll, announced by the league office on Thursday morning.

ULM had 42 student-athletes land on the Commissioner's List, which honors all student-athletes recording a 3.5 grade point average or better during the 2007-08 academic year. The Warhawks also had 65 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll, which is awarded to those maintaining a 3.0-3.49 GPA.

The 107 ULM student-athletes honored by the Sun Belt breaks the record of 92 set last year.  The conference also set a record with total of 1,503 athletes honored topping the previous high of 1,429 set during the 2006-07 school year.

The women's track and field team led the way with eight athletes on the Commissioner's List, while the soccer team had six players honored on the Commissioner's List and 10 on the Academic Honor Roll.

The Warhawk football team had four players on Commissioner's List, including ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection James Truxillo, and 14 on the Academic Honor Roll.  Another highlight was the softball team with 12 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll and two on the Commissioner's List. The women's golf team had all four of its eligible student-athletes named to either the Commissioner's List or Academic Honor Roll.

The Sun Belt Conference is committed to academic excellence and proof comes in the fact that 12 member schools, including ULM, are currently graduating its student-athletes at a rate higher than their school's student body.
