Baseball
JONESBORO, Ark.?For the second time in three games ULM scored in the top of the ninth inning taking the rubber game at Arkansas State 6-3.

The Warhawks have now won all three Sun Belt Conference series this season and are an impressive 9-1 on the road.

With the game tied at 3-3 heading into the final frame, ASU reliever Jordan Kimball hit the first two Warhawk (14-6, 7-2 Sun Belt) batters of the inning.

Following a pitching change which brought Jett Jordan into the game, Kyle Suire put down a sacrifice bunt back to Jordan. The junior right-hander threw the ball into the Arkansas State (12-9, 4-4) bullpen in right field allowing Jon Prevost and Ben Soignier to come around and score.

Later in the inning A.J. Siggers singled to center scoring Suire pushing the lead out to three. Siggers finished the game 3-for-5 from the plate and Matt Laird went 3-for-4.

The Warhawks had a similar play in the series opener Friday night. In a 1-1 game, ASU pitcher Chase Ware overthrew the first baseman in the ninth inning on a bunt allowing the winning run to score.

Josh Lett (4-1) turned in his third quality start of the season for the Warhawks allowing three runs ? one earned ? in eight innings striking out seven. Lett has not allowed more than three runs in his five starts this season.

Arkansas State took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Drew Benes' second home run of the weekend. The inning was prolonged due to a throwing error by Ryan McMillan causing both runs to be unearned.

Dexter Fontenot pushed across the Warhawks first run of the game with an RBI single through the ride side of the infield scoring Prevost. With Suire on third base, Fontenot got in a rundown between first and second allowing Suire to score tying the game at 2-2.

ASU quickly regained the lead on a single back up the middle by Brandon Eller in the bottom half of the frame.

Matt Collins tied the game in the top of the sixth scoring Siggers on a fielder's choice.

Kimball (2-1) took the loss allowing two runs ? one earned ? in one-third of an inning. Joel Boeschen started on the mound for ASU allowing three runs on 10 hits in 7 2/3 innings.

The Warhawks travel to Stephen F. Austin for a pair of midweek games on Tuesday and Wednesday before returning home for a weekend set against Florida Atlantic. The Owls are tied with ULM atop the Sun Belt standings with a 6-1 record after sweeping Middle Tennessee this weekend.
