F. Austin rallied from eight runs down in the seventh inning winning 12-11 over
ULM Tuesday
afternoon at Jaycees Field.
The Warhawks (14-7, 7-2 Sun Belt) broke a 3-3 tie in the top
of the seventh with eight runs on six walks, two hit batters and one hit.
Dexter Fontenot had the only hit of the inning pushing a
two-run single through the left side of the infield. ULM
sent 13 batters to the plate during the inning and eight different players
scored.
Stephen F. Austin (10-11) returned the favor in the bottom
half of the inning scoring nine runs on five hits, two walks and three hit
batters. Jeff Brewer provided the game
winner with a double down the line in right field.
Devin Pourciau was in line for his second victory of the
season shutting down the Lumberjacks over two innings not allowing a run before
handing the ball off to Jordy Poche. Poche allowed five runs without recording an
out in the seventh inning.
Ben Soignier (0-1) was the hard-luck loser allowing a run on
two hits in 1 2/3 innings of work.
Both teams pushed a pair of runs across in the first
inning. Jon Prevost and Soignier scored
for the Warhawks on a pair of fielder's choices. Noel Trevino brought home the ?Jacks first run with
a single to right center and Kevin Croft hit a sacrifice fly to plate the
second run.
The ?Jacks pulled in front with an unearned run in the
bottom half of the second and the Warhawks tied the game in the fifth on an RBI
groundout by Matt Laird.
SFA used eight total pitchers in the game with Angel
Hernandez (1-0) tossing one-third of an inning for the win and Richard Folmer
picking up the save throwing the final two innings.
The teams square off again tomorrow afternoon beginning at
1:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on
