DALLAS ? Dallas Baptist jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the first two innings and held on for a 14-7 victory over ULM Wednesday afternoon at Patriot Field.
The Warhawks outscored Dallas Baptist 7-1 over the final five innings of the game, pushing a pair of runs across in the fifth, one in the sixth, three in the seventh and one in the ninth.
Dallas Baptist (12-3) hit five home runs on the afternoon after sending five out of the park last night. Ryan Goins hit a two-run homer in the first and Jason Krizan had a grand slam in the second to give the Patriots their 9-0 lead.
Boomer Blanchard and Jon Prevost continued to crush the ball as both hit their third home runs of the two-game series going back-to-back off Dallas Baptist ace Victor Black ? the first two homers he has given up this season in 28.1 innings of work. Blanchard finished 2-for-5 and Prevost was 2-for-4 on the day with a double to go with his home run.
Matt Collins finished with three hits for the Warhawks and Ryan McMillan drove in a pair of runs. Trevor Head led the Patriots going 4-for-5 from the plate, while seven others finished with multiple hits.
ULM had a chance to set the tone in the first inning as Blanchard and Prevost led off the game with a single and a double, however the Warhawks left the bases loaded and Dallas Baptist scored five runs in the bottom of the frame to take control early.
Tony Dischler (1-1) suffered the loss for the Warhawks, who fall to 2-6 on the road this season. Black (3-0) took the win for the Patriots despite allowing six runs ? five earned ? on six hits over 6.1 innings of work.
The Warhawks look to extend their three-game Sun Belt Conference win streak this weekend when they host Arkansas State in a three-game series at Warhawk Field.
