MONROE, La. –With first-place finishes at their respective tournaments, ULM golf's Charlie MacNeal earned Warhawk Male of the Week and Alison Knowles was named Warhawk Female of the Week.
MacNeal won the top spot in individual competition and helped lead the Warhawks to a second place finish at the Husky Invitational, hosted by Houston Baptist University.
The senior shot an even 71 in the final round to close out the win, while Mason Seaborn moved up one spot to tie for second after a strong third round performance.
The ULM men will be back on the course on Oct.14-15 when they head to Overland Park, Kan. for the Bill Ross Intercollegiate tournament.
Led by Knowles' top score, the ULM women's golf team won the 13-team Fred Marx Invitational, held at the DeSiard Country Club. The Warhawks set a new 54-hole record by an astounding 22 strokes with an 884 (294-295-295) mark.
Knowles, a sophomore from Mexborough, England, finished in first-place after setting a new individual 54-hole record with a 4-under par score of 212 (69-72-71). She finished four strokes ahead of the runner-up, Taylor Stockton (Lamar). The previous record, held by Angela Drane, was a 215 shot at the 2009 Chris Banister Gamecock Classic.
The women will be back in action on Oct. 14-15 when they travel to Jonesboro, Ark. for the Arkansas State Tournament.
