MONROE, La. -- ULM fell 14-1 to LSU Tuesday evening despite record attendance at the ULM Softball Complex.
A massive crowd of 1,081 fans wrapped around the outfield wall and were stacked three deep behind the plate witnessed the contest. The mark smashed the previous record of 608, set in April 2008 against the same LSU Tigers.
LSU (20-15) scored two early runs with both coming in the second. Bianka Bell capped the scoring with an RBI single.
The Tigers exploded for 11 runs in the top of the fourth. Kailey McCasland capped the big rally with a grand slam.
ULM (15-14) scratched its lone run across in the bottom of the fourth on a bases-loaded walk dealt to Sidney Coy.
Courtney Dutreix and Vanessa Garcia teamed up to record both of ULM's hits.
LSU's Baylee Corbello earned her 10th win of the season while Haylie Wilson was tagged with the loss.
Prior to the game, Steele Becton, son of former Warhawk Lindsay Rittenhouse-Becton, tossed out the ceremonial first pitch as part of Steele Strong Night. The night was held to support the Becton family in their fight against Steele's Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
The Warhawks resume Sun Belt play when they return to action Saturday for a doubleheader against Troy. First pitch of game one is at 2 p.m. with the second game to follow 30 minutes afterwards.
