MONROE, La. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association has approved a waiver for Jamaal Samuel to transfer to ULM and be eligible for the upcoming men's basketball season, head coach Keith Richard announced Tuesday. Samuel will have two years of eligibility remaining.
“Jamaal brings us experience, versatility and length at the forward position,” Richard said. “He's coming off a great summer where he earned a Bronze Medal with the U.S. Virgin Islands national team.”
Samuel, a native of New Orleans, joins the ULM program after spending a year at Illinois State. He ranked top-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference in blocks and helped the team to an 18-16 overall record and a semi-finals appearance in the 2014 CBI Tournament.
Samuel and the Warhawks will kick off the 2014-15 campaign on Nov. 15 when they travel to UAB for the season opener. Two days later, ULM will host Champion Baptist in its home opener at 7:00 p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
