NACOGDACHES, Texas -  The ULM softball team kicked the week off with a 5-1 win at Stephen F. Austin Wednesday night thanks to a big offensive inning.

TURNING POINT

-The Warhawks did all their scoring in the fifth inning, using three hits and two Stephen F. Austin errors to plate the five runs, which was more than enough support for ULM pitcher Melanie Coyne in circle.

NOTABLES

-In the fifth inning, Coyne drew a bases loaded walk to put ULM on the board before Cheyanne Lyon brought in two runs when she reached on an error moments later. Ana Hogan and Casey Waterman then delivered back-to-back RBI singles to push the lead to five runs.

-The only run that SFA brought across the plate came in the bottom of the sixth after a leadoff single and a two-out RBI double.

-Coyne earned her 12th victory of the season in the complete game win in the circle for the Warhawks, allowing just the one run on six hits while striking out five SFA batters.

-Waterman finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk as the only ULM batter with multiple hits as the Warhawks tallied six total hits in the win. Jayden Mount, Sydney McKay, Coyne and Hogan each notched one hit each.

UP NEXT

-The Warhawks return home to take on Texas State in a Sun Belt Conference weekend series, with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday afternoon before a Sunday afternoon series finale.
