NATCHITOCHES, La. - Freshman Mackenzie Bell sank her first two collegiate goals on Sunday (Sept. 2) against Northwestern State, but the Lady Demons match the Warhawks attack with five goals of their own, defeating ULM 5-2 in Natchitoches.

"I'm really happy for Mackenzie," said head soccer coach Keyton Wheelock. "She played well and nearly finished with a hat-trick when her shot ricocheted off the near position the 82nd minute. All of our newcomers have really stepped up and seen success this season, thats promising for the future of this team."

Bell's first goal came with less than two minutes remaining in the first half. Freshman teammate Cassidy Wiest passed to the streaking Bell who finished high on the breakaway. 

Unfortunately, before Bell's goal came three from NSU, putting the Warhawks behind 3-1 at halftime. 

NSU wasted no time in the second half to strike again, the header from Brittany Caserma in the 48th minute was her third goal of the game.

"As a team, we're improving each and every game," said Wheelock. "But we need to be more disciplined, no doubt."

ULM responded, with another goal from Bell with 59:30 on the clock. Northwestern State turned the ball over when Bell took control of the loose ball and sent it in to the lower left of the net.

The Lady Demons would answer with one last goal in the 76th minute after NSU's Norma Trejo collided with Truscott leading to a loose ball and the eventual score by Trejo.

The Warhawks fall to 0-6 overall and will continue the hunt for win number one on Friday (Sept. 7) when they host Southeastern Louisiana at 4 p.m.
