LAFAYETTE, La. – The ULM women's soccer team saw its tenth loss of the season on Sunday (Sept. 23) in Lafayette, falling to the Ragin Cajuns and opening up Sun Belt play with a 0-3 mark.
The Warhawks held the Ragin Cajuns to a season low one goal and three points, despite dropping the match 1-0.
The Ragin Cajuns scored their only goal at the 41:35 mark- leading to the 1-0 deficit for ULM at halftime. At the half, the Warhawks were out-shot only 3-1, with neither team showing an aggressive attack.
Ragin Cajun Una Einarsdottir had the lone goal of the game. Assisted by Julianne DeBlieux, Einarsdottir scored from 26 yards over, sending her shot into the goal over Warhawk goalkeeper Brooke-Lynn Scroggin's head.
Despite ULL sparking a second-half push to extend its lead, Scroggins stepped up, making five saves in the second half alone, six overall.
For ULM, freshmen
Annelore Mievis and
Maelwenn Gaiffas were the only Warhawks to not only get a shot, but aim those on goal.
The Warhawks gave up ten corner opportunities and turned the ball over due to a foul 13 times.
ULM will be back in Monroe, on Friday (Sept. 28) when they host Georgia Southern in Sun Belt play. Kick-off is slated for 4:00 p.m., all home events at the ULM Soccer Complex are free of charge.
