ULM Produces Nine Top-10 Performances on Opening Day of Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La. – The ULM track and field team concluded the first day of the Louisiana Classics, hosted by Louisiana Lafayette, with nine Top-10 performances. Friday's best finishes were a pair of third-place efforts by Cole McKnight (men's javelin) and Brianna Sam (women's hammer throw).
 
McKnight, the top ULM men's finisher of the day, reached the podium after a heave of 195-feet, 5-inches, which left him third in the event. He was one of two ULM participants in the men's javelin to close with a top-five finish along with Mason Nichols (179-4), who claimed fifth. Teammates Austin Walker (159-2) and Darryl Givens (154-4) narrowly missed the Top 10, placing 11th and 12th, respectively.
 
Sam finished third in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 168-2, just over 6-feet off the mark established by event winner Alanna Arvie (McNeese State). ULM's Alivia Busch also placed in the Top 10 in the event, with her distance of 151-3 good for seventh.
 
In the men's hammer throw, ULM was well-represented by Jakob Fudge (fifth at 171-9), Micah Dye (eighth at 157-7) and Ray Dixon (ninth at 149-7) all finishing in the Top 10.
 
The two remaining Top-10 performances for the Warhawks came in the 200-meter dash. On the men's side, Eran Siboni crossed the line eighth in a time of 21.83 while the women's unit was led by Fiebe Tengrootenhuysen, who placed ninth in a time of 25.38.
