ULM Softball Falls at LA Tech, 6-0

RUSTON, La. – Krystal De La Cruz pitched a complete-game two-hitter to lead Louisiana Tech to a 6-0 victory over ULM Tuesday, April 9.
 
A scoreless game until the bottom of the sixth inning, LA Tech (31-9) broke the game open by scoring six runs on nine hits.
 
With runners at second and third with one out, Zoe Hicks drove in the first run of the game with an infield single to third. Jaz Crowder scored Tech's second run on a double steal. With two outs, LA Tech strung together seven consecutive singles, including an RBI single to right center by Bayli Simon, a run-producing infield hit to shortstop by Marilyn Rizzato and a two-run single to right field by Kim Atienza.
 
LA Tech outhit ULM, 13-2. Nine different Techsters recorded at least one hit. The Warhawks got an infield single to second base from Jessie Watts to leadoff the fifth inning and a two-out single up the middle from Bailey Thibodeaux in the seventh.
 
De La Cruz, who improved to 10-2, struck out five and issued no walks.
 
ULM starter Adrianna Chavarria (5-9), who allowed just four hits through five scoreless innings, went 5.2 innings and surrendered five runs on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
 
The Warhawks (7-31) open a three-game Sun Belt Conference series at UT Arlington on Friday, April 12 at 5 p.m.
