ULM Swept at Texas State, 3-0

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The ULM volleyball team was grounded Friday night in its 3-0 loss (25-11, 25-7, 25-15) to Texas State. The Bobcat defense held the Warhawks in check with 12 blocks on the night.

ULM's offense was limited in the first set. Senior Cali Assaley got the Warhawks on the board with their first kill while trailing the Bobcats, bringing the score to 5-2. ULM only scored consecutive points on one occasion as the Bobcats took the first set, 25-11.

ULM stalled out of the gates for the second set of play. The Bobcats went on a 9-0 run to open the set. Freshman Phoebe Stigen recorded a kill to break ULM's scoring drought. Texas State scored two straight aces to close out the second set, 25-7, picking up five aces in the set.

The Warhawk offense was productive in the opening of the third set. ULM took the initial lead over the Bobcats and was up 5-2. The two teams exchanged leads before ULM took the lead back at 8-7 behind a kill by junior Mariana Volponi e Giordan. Texas State cut into the Warhawks lead and took the lead for the remainder of the contest, 12-11. The Bobcats finished set three on a 7-1 run to win the set, 25-15, and win the contest, 3-0.
