ARLINGTON, Texas – The ULM volleyball team dropped its third straight Sun Belt Conference match with a 3-0 loss (25-16, 25-14, 25-16) to UT Arlington Saturday night at the College Park Center.
The Mavericks charged out in the first set by scoring the first eight points. ULM snapped the Mavericks' scoring streak with a kill by senior
Cali Assaley. ULM went on a four-point scoring run late in the game capped off by a block, trimming UTA's lead to 22-16. The Mavericks closed out the set by scoring the final three points, winning set one, 25-16.
ULM's offense got rolling much earlier in set two. The two teams kept the score close and freshman
Avery Cole's kill brought ULM within one score at 7-6. UTA would extend its lead by scoring the next four points. The Warhawks' offense stalled, allowing the Mavericks to take the set, 25-14.
UT Arlington carried over the momentum to seal the game in set three. UTA jumped out to an 8-3 lead with three straight scores coming off Warhawk errors. Cole scored the final kill for ULM while trailing 23-16. UTA won the game with a score of 25-16 in set three.
Assaley led ULM nine kills. Junior
Darby Fisher handed out a team-best 16 assists in the contest. Freshman
Kaitlin Davis had 13 digs and three service aces.
ULM returns to Fant-Ewing Coliseum to entertain Little Rock at 6 p.m. Friday.
