MONROE, La. – The ULM softball team avenged an opening night loss by defeating I-20 foe Louisiana Tech, 8-5, Tuesday night at the ULM Softball Complex.
Both teams had big first innings.
LA Tech opened with a three-run top of the first. The Lady Techsters pushed runs across on an RBI walk by Madie Green, a passed ball and Tristin Court's RBI infield single.
ULM responded with a five-run bottom of the first. Madelyn Fletcher's 2-RBI single put the Warhawks on the board, scoring Jayden Mount and Kennedy Page. Jacelyn Buck's bases-loaded walk forced in Alysia Anderson to tie the game at 3. Andie Edwards then put ULM on top with a 2-RBI single to right, scoring Kelsey Giddens and Fletcher for the 5-3 advantage after an inning.
After the first inning eruption, both sides went silent until the fourth inning, when Kennedy Johnson's RBI single to left scored Madison Blount to increase the Warhawk lead to 6-3.
The Lady Techsters answered in the top of the fifth as Carol Easom's RBI single to center and a passed ball cut the deficit to one, 6-5.
However, ULM answered back in the bottom of the fifth. Blount drew a bases loaded walk to force in Korie Kreps, while an error allowed Page to score to push the lead back to three.
