MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team suffered just its second loss at Heard Stadium in 2021, dropping its Sun Belt Conference match against UT Arlington, 4-1, on Saturday, April 3. The Warhawks finished the regular-season 0-2 against the Mavericks.
 
UTA (13-3, 6-0 Sun Belt) posted the first win of the afternoon in doubles action when the third-seeded tandem of Carla Pons and Almudena Boza earned a 6-2 victory over ULM's Jimena Paula Garbino and Daniela Hernandez. That was followed by a 6-4 win from teammates Bruna Casasampere and Momoka Horiguchi, who downed Drousile Dzeubou and Madalina Grigoriu in a clash at No. 2 doubles.
 
Horiguchi moved the lead to 2-0 for the Mavericks with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Dzeubou in the meeting of No. 1 singles. UTA assumed a 3-0 lead after Casasampere recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win against Garbino at No. 5 singles. Daniela Hernandez answered with a point for the Warhawks (8-5, 2-4 Sun Belt) after earning a 6-4, 7-6 (6) win over Boza at No. 6 singles.
 
The Mavericks clinched the match after Liz Chileno fought back from an opening-set loss to defeat Hala Badwy by scores of 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
 
ULM completes its Sun Belt Conference weekend schedule playing host to Texas State Sunday, April 4 at 10 a.m. in Heard Stadium.
