MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team ended the weekend with a split by posting a 4-1 victory over Sun Belt Conference foe Texas State at Heard Stadium on Sunday, April 4. It marks the fifth home win of the 2021 slate and provides the Warhawks with their third win in conference play.
 
ULM (9-5, 3-4 Sun Belt) grabbed the 1-0 lead in the match with a pair of doubles victories. The first of those doubles wins came from the pair of Drousile Dzeubou and Madalina Grigoriu, who triumphed 6-3 over the combination of Nikita Pradeep and Chacadyah Israel-Lewis in the meeting of second seeds. That was followed by a victory from the ULM duo of Daniela Hernandez and Jimena Paula Garbino, who came away with a 6-3 win over Renata Gonzalez and Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez.
 
Hernandez stretched the Warhawks' lead to 2-0 in the match when she posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Gonzalez in No. 6 singles. Garbino followed that with a 6-0, 7-6 (1-0) win against Chacadyah Israel-Lewis when the two fifth-seeded singles players clashed.
 
The lone Texas State (5-10, 0-6 Sun Belt) victory came from Hana Kvapilova, who emerged with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Dzeubou in No. 1 singles. Grigoriu clinched the match for the Warhawks as the No. 4 seed, downing Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez by a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 margin.
 
The Warhawks conclude the regular season on Sunday, April 11, when they host Sun Belt Conference foe Arkansas State at 10 a.m.
